“There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns.”
– Edward De Bono
Here at the HCPA we believe creativity is a fundamental part of the human experience.
The art we create and the stories we tell each other are a cornerstone of society and shape our lives. However, in the modern age, the people who create these works are threatened by artificial intelligence which can generate a high-level immitation of human creativity.
We believe creators who choose to produce only by their own skills deserve to be protected.
We also believe in freedom of choice. Whether it be food, art, or entertainment, people should have the option to choose what they consume and how they consume it. This is a right as fundamental as free speech and should be protected with as much vigor.
Freedom of choice can only occur when there is total transparency about a product from its creator. In the same way a restaurant should allow people to opt out of eating meat for religious or ethical reasons, organizations and individuals should allow people to opt out of consuming products created by artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence will change our world in amazing and wonderful ways. It will revolutionize industries, streamline tedious processes, and, with proper guidelines, will benefit humanity as a whole.
The HCPA does not advocate for a total ban on AI, or even harsh regulations concerning its use. We do, however, believe that people should be allowed the choice both to create using their own skills and to not consume artificially generated products.
With this in mind, the HCPA provides a human-made certification that creators may use to showcase the time and effort that goes into human created work.
For now, the certification is used on an honor system, but we hope someday it will become an industry-wide standard for those who proudly create in the old way.
